Japanese Lacquerware Urushi Plate Large Stone Beige

Sale price$149.00

Echizen Hard Lacquer is a dishwasher-safe lacquer developed through years of experimentation in Echizen, a historic craft region in northern Fukui Prefecture, Japan, renowned as one of the country’s oldest lacquerware‑producing areas. Made with 100% natural urushi and no synthetic paints, each piece is hand-finished using the refined Hakeme technique, where brushstrokes are applied by hand with a skill that allows no corrections once the lacquer is laid down. The result is a unique form and vivid color palette, crafted to suit modern dining while preserving tradition.

The Large Plate is perfectly sized for main dishes such as pasta, omelets, or curry. It can also be paired with small trays to create a one-dish style meal.

The Hakeme Technique — Painting Beauty with Precision

The Hakeme technique highlights the delicate brushstrokes applied by hand. Since the lacquer cannot be repainted once applied, this method demands exceptional skill and precision. Each piece layers artistry with every stroke, embodying beauty and craftsmanship in perfect harmony.
